Secular Song 441 to 445

Secular Song 441

From my kitchen I can hear whoever talks walking on the road in front of our house.  When I was working in the kitchen, I heard one pseudo-politician in our street talking with another person about the money which some political parties are distributing for the vote to be held in Karnataka.  He said that some people refused to accept less than what the opposition party gave.  And he said that all the political parties know that people will receive the money from everyone but will give votes based on their political affiliation.  This trend which started in Tamilnadu is slowly spreading to other parts of the country. It is said that Bhakti originated in Tamilnadu and went to Karnataka and then Andhra, then to Maharashtra and to other parts of North India.  Now with much shame we Tamilians have to say the same about giving money for votes which has been openly done in Tamilnadu since the past few elections.  But at the end it is the poor who are affected by it, as they sell their vote for temporary gain and thereby allow the politicians to exploit them.  It is now becoming like business—invest in elections and reap later once they come to power.

@ In the Indian election there will be a last button called ‘Nota’. And we don’t want to vote for any candidate, so we can vote for nota to show our opposition to all the political candidates in the election.

Secular Song 441

Secular Song 441Politicians

Forming alliance

They will cheat the country

Changing their policy

They will go for sale

Somehow winning

In the election

To cheat us

They will rule us

The trust we had

On them has gone

But the condition of the

Poor alone become pathetic

As they sold their

Vote for money

Both the home and country

Alone get spoiled

In order to get back

The money which they have invested

Showing only the money

In front of our eyes

To make those who voted

To become paper

By selling even the country

They will destroy us

Neither we need money

Nor we need vote

Deciding that

Nota@ is enough

Changing the

System like this

We should protect

Our country first

Secular Song 442

Though the concept of (western) Individualism is new to India, still there is a place for this in Indian tradition. Monks and Sannyasis who sought that kind of life refused to allow others to enter in that ‘individualistic’ world.  Of course this is not possible for everyone. At the same time, even an ordinary individual also wants to have her own ‘little’ space in her own inner world, as modern life puts lots of pressure on us.  So not going to the extreme of westernized individualism, accepting the demand of the present life, we should give that ‘little’ space in everybody’s life to live it for some time.  Of course, as social animals, we need the help and presence of others in our lives even to have this ‘little’ inner space. But when others demand or expect, we should be ready to accommodate it even in our own ‘little’ space.

Secular Song 442

Secular Song 442 Let us give space

Each one live

In their own world

And they refuse to give

Space for others in it

Once they have

Formed a life for them

They refuse to

Compromise in it

Though they live

In this world with others

They form a separate

World in it for them

When others

Try to enter in it

They refuse to

Receive them easily in it

They cannot find the

Peace which they seek anywhere else

They get the freedom which they seek

Only in that little world

They stood opposing

For others to enter

And try to

Destroy it

Once they

Lost that world

They hate also

This world

By losing the world

Both inside and outside

Then they

Lose their peace

It is not that much

Easy to understand this

Other than those

Who actually lost it?

Realizing this

Just standing by

Let us give space

For others also to live

Secular Song 443

Another song reflecting on the golden concept of: familiarity breeds contempt.

Secular Song 443

Secular Song 443 Final straw

When the final

Straw is placed on top

Even the back of the camel

Will be broken

When we give

The final blow

Even a hard

Stone will crack

When the ants

Go continuously

Even a hard rock

Will get diminished

When we move

Too closely

Some kind of

Frustration will come in it

The green

In distance alone

Will look

Cool to the eyes

These are the

Truth which

Others told

Based on their experience

Taking them

As lesson for us

We too should

Live accordingly

As we live

Too closely

Due to familiarity

We might go away

Before we

Learn by experience

We should live

Understanding this well

Mathigiri, 9-5-18, 11.00 p.m.

Secular Song 444

Others cannot live our life or live for us. But we cannot live without others.  The best way to make life meaningful is to live our life while living with others, allowing them to live their life.  Mutual contribution will make life colorful.  But if we expect others to live our life or dream, then life will become a bore.

Secular Song 444

Secular Song 444 As we run with others

Keeping a false peace

In the mind

Living silently

Not interacting with others

Like the cat

Closing the eyes

And thinking that the world become dark

Some used to live

If we hide the comb

Can we stop the marriage?

If we use mud

Will it become sandal?

Will the world stop

Because we stop

Can others live?

For us

When you complete

After running your race

Others can clap

And appreciate it

If you stand with other

And if you clap

Others will move on

As you alone will be standing

Others won’t act

For us

They won’t say no

If we work with them

As we run

With others

As they join with us

Our life will move

Mathigiri, 15-5-18, 1.30 p.m.

Secular Song 445

Singlehood is not a blessing.  But when one chooses it as his vocation, then he has to pay a heavy price for it.  As a single person I often not only live in my own world, but I live in my own dream. But when the real world rubs off then I often become impatient and pay a heavy price for it.

Secular Song 445

Secular Song 445 Don’t have patience

I don’t have patience

This is the reality

Doing things

In haste is my nature

As I live

As a single person

I live

In my own world

When the

Real world rubs

I get upset

Losing my patience

When things go

As I like

I am

Very happy about it

If one thing

Goes wrong

Immediately

I become upset

Living in a

Dream world

I imagine

So many things

When I get up

From my dream

I feel out of place

In the real world

Though there

Is an alternative to this?

I refuse to

Accept it

When I pay a price

For it often

Then I realize the

Importance of patience
