151. Sweet music
When we listen to sweet music
Won’t our hearts melt?
Once the nature too joined
Won’t it become more pleasant?
As the snow gently fall
And Sitar music adding beauty to it
With birds’ background music
Won’t our hair stand still?
(Brisling of the hair of the body)
As the beautiful House wife
Serving silently
Even small small things
Won’t make our mind to meditate
As she feeds the birds
By her own hand
Won’t His creation
Hail His Name
Celebrating the nature
By serving music feast
Let the woman live (long)
With her husband at her home
11-3-16. Mathigiri, 10.55
As I listened to Sitar music in Rag ‘Meg’ , a rainy raga, performed with a background of snow in the garden of their home by a bhakta, I listened to it again and again. The way his wife feeds the birds and the way they come and pick up without any fear made me think how God’s creation can come together to celebrate such harmony of His creation along with nature. The way she displayed her kitchen and served hot tea demonstrated the way she could relate the way she takes care of birds and others with a motherly touch. As I like snow very much, with its background the ‘Meg’ rag really becomes more beautiful in a new environment. Not only the music but also the season is really a feast for all music lovers. May the couple serve many more such feasts in the days to come with such innovative ideas.
Song 152

152. Will shed tears
Not knowing the reason they shed tears
Unable to understand they are troubled (in heat)
They experience sorrow even though they don’t like it
And began to search for the meaning of human life
They don’t understand the reason for their coming on earth
And they don’t know when they will be taken back
And if the life which is lived in between these two
What else can others do (for them)?
They help others seeking only others’ welfare
And they do their best for others to live
But when their own selfishness interfere
They lost their peace of mind first
Nothing wrong in seeking one’s own comfort
And it is not wrong to toil for one’s own needs
But for it if they deprive others welfare
They will lose their own and why don’t they understand this?
Not realising this, if they blame others
And if they began to justify their own acts
And try to escape (from their responsibility)
Finally they will shed tears like this every day.
21-3-16, Mathirigi, 9.45 am.
Though sinful nature often mars our good intention, yet the other side of the coin is that compassion is there in everybody’s heart and each one tries to help others as much as possible. But several times when ‘ego’ clashes, it finally ends up doing any help or charity for selfish reasons. Then we lose our inner peace and not get satisfaction in our charity and help for others.
Song 153

153. Each one’s contribution
How to live
If thousands of worries
And struggles
Come in line?
Along with physical need
And the need of heart
Other’s needs also
Often interfere
Living for oneself
Is impossible on this earth
And none can live
“Alone” in life
For one’s own need
We need to toil for others
If one wants to live
They have to work with others
When we toil for others
Our needs get fulfilled
Once we began to live with others
Our life too became complete
But this is not
That much easy (as said)
There alone struggle
Will slowly emerges
However we try
We cannot escape
Wherever we run
Struggle won’t end
We should try
To do what we can do
We should completely avoid
Which is impossible for us?
(Particularly in old age)
If each one
Do her part
Everyday life
Will become smooth
Not realizing this
If we began to give trouble
Everybody’s life
Will end in a mess.
Mathigiri, 21-3-16, 11.30 pm.
The mystery in human life is to understand one within and also understand each other in Interpersonal relationship. Both are necessary to have a balanced life. Without having personal understanding about oneself—strengths and weaknesses as well as a minimum understanding about others, we cannot even survive. And better than understanding about oneself, mutual understanding alone enhances both. For this mutual contribution and co-operation is very important.
Song 154

154. Others cannot understand
Pain and suffering can be understood when they come to us
The burden of the life can be recognized only when we carry it
Others cannot understand our suffering
And we too cannot make them to understand
Though many will be there to give us company
However they might uphold us by carrying us
We alone can understand our struggle
When we try to communicate it, only questions alone will come
Thousand of advice others will give
And they will provide free counselling also
Nothing wrong in these services provided by them
But there is no use out of them.
We need to listen to others advice
And we should discuss (our problems) with others
Finally, when the time of implementation comes
We need to do what we feel is correct.
Whatever might be the final result?
We need to accept and act accordingly
Learning through our experience
We need to correct our mistakes and live accordingly.
27/28-3-16, 12.30 am. Mathigiri
As I saw my mother lying down with much pain on her body due to old age related issues (I too have lower back pain), I went back to my room to pray for her. That time I reflected on her life which I remember from the age of 7 or 8. She struggled a lot along with my father to give proper life to us. After my father passed away, she lived alone for several years. Finally she came to live with me in 2000.
Though I tried to serve her at my best, she never liked to stay in our ashram. So in order to give her a life which she would like to live, giving up my idealism and desire to live a life of a recluse in a remote place away from people, I moved back to a busy city with all kinds of noises. But now she suffers due to her old age (now running 91, coming June she will be 92).
Though I do all I could do to give relief from her pain, yet as it is part of her body which is becoming weak day by day, I thought, ‘however I try to comfort her and serve her, yet others cannot understand her suffering’. Then I took a vow that I will continue to do my best—whichever cost that I need to pay for that, at least I should do my dharma as a son. Then I wrote this song for my mother.
Song 155
155. Lamentation
What to say
And to whom we to say
How to lament
By telling which one?
Men will change
Within few seconds
They will find change
Automatically in the heart
In order to pour my thought
And give in writing
However I search
I couldn’t find words
None is available
To share my burden
And to
Unload it
Some even don’t
Have the courage
To sit and
Lament alone
Still they are lamenting
And become upset
Doing something
They spend their days
As one has lost
The inner peace on her own
Whoever might come to uphold
Nothing will help her
It is better
To remain silent
By not thinking
Too much about anything
But this is not
Possible for everyone
Therefore they cannot
Stop their lamentation
Till the end
They carry the burden
However we try to tell
They refuse to understand
Therefore let each one live
Their life in their own way
What else is there?
For to say further
2-4-16, Mathigiri, 2.20 p.m.
Once we lost our inner peace and tranquility, none can help us to face the challenge of life. One problem in old age is ‘loliness’. They always seek some company to talk and expect others to listen to them, particularly all their problem related with physical ailment and suffering in life. Though others need to understand and should help as much as possible, yet, no body can satisfy the demand of the old people—particularly to over come their loliness. Expecting that this is invitable to everyone, better we should train our heart and mind to ‘engage’ in our lonliness in a differet and useful way. Here no body can recommed any uniform solution as each person has to workout her own method based on her aptitute and nature.
