Secular Songs 181 to 185

181 Good for all

It is good o my heart to leave

For those who cannot co-operate with us

Saluting thousands time to them

Mind your own business

“This grape will too savour”

By saying like this they left you

Jumping so many times to reach

Unable to get one they walked away

We can support a person to climb

Till our hand can reach—keep this in your mind

If you too need to climb along with him till the end

It is not possible for anyone—everyone knows this

How many days they will hang around you

As neither they are teachable nor become self-made

They can learn only through their experience

Therefore, you keep away from them in time.

Till the end if all remain together

There won’t be place for new comers

Bless them sincerely to progress

Wherever they go

19-6-16, Mathigiri, 1.30 pm.

One person in our Hindi mandali WhatsApp group left today. He never involved too much and never made any commitment to our principle. As I never right off any person easily, I always give long rob.  But when he left the group, then I said, what I wrote as the first line in Tamil.  Then when I was contemplated on this topic further, I realized that there is no point of hanging around someone who always sits on the fence not making any decision to identify with one group.  Such fringe elements cannot contribute much either in the struggle or for the progress of any one group.  Though we should do all that we can do to keep cordial relationship, even giving many chances, if such persons opted to leave us, then instead of taking it seriously we should go ahead wishing the best for such person.

Song 182

182 What will become my condition?

O mind take some rest (or keep quiet)

You get confused often and frustrated

Don’t think so many things,

Thinking that finally you will get some answer!

What is the use of reading so many things?

What you have achieved by writing down many things

You become confused by too much thinking

Whatever I tell you won’t listen to me

When you are alone you get tossed

When you are with others you react vehemently

If I allow you to go in your own way, you will get spoiled

And won’t accept whatever others say to you

What I can do now to correct you?

I allowed you to go in your own way and now what I can do?

Do you understand what I try to tell you?

Can you recognize me who tell this to you?

You talk within you too much

You seek means to tame you by yourself

I don’t have answer for this

You never listen to your own words

If anyone talk to himself (or herself) alone

People will call him/her as a ‘crack’

If you become clear after thinking or confused after clear thinking

It is your funeral and people will let you face it

Whatever I knew I told you

Whether you accept it or reject it what else can I do

But my condition become very pathetic

O my God! This becomes more dangerous

Don’t buy snares by thinking too much

Don’t be rebuked even sharing this by writing (like this)

Nectar too will become poison when it exceeds its limit

If you refuse to understand this, what will happen to me?

19-6-16, Mathigiri, 11.10 pm.

I often struggle to understand what is ‘mind’ which is different from ‘buddhi’ ‘atman’ ‘heart’ and ‘aham’ (I or ego). Whatever I read about them or think the final result is that I cannot understand it.  Next to God it remains an eternal riddle to me. So, this night as I was again beginning to think about my (aham, I, ego, buddhi or atman) struggle with my mind I wrote this song.

Song 183

183 It is only for Good.

Somehow, I share my thoughts

Which arise within me?

I don’t know the reason

However, I resist I cannot overcome it.

I am addressing to myself (therefore)

Others need not listen to me

Others won’t listen

The talk of a lunatic person

Living all alone

Talking to myself

Somehow, I lived on this earth

Not understanding anything (properly)

Who will understand my situation?

They talk so many things (about me)

I tried my best to communicate to them

But they refuse to understand me

That is also good for me

There is something good in it

Nobody can ask anything

To me any more

As others leaving me

Mind alone comes along with me

Addressing to myself.

I will live as usual.

6.30, Mathigiri

The life of a single person is a blessing but also a problem. As we have more time and live alone, often we have to talk to ourselves on so many issues.  I don’t know about others, but in my life, often I think, discuss, and concludes on so many issues in life—doing everything with me.  So, all I write and share are my own response to my inquiries in life and others may not and need not listen them. Thankfully as my mind cannot run away from me, it bears all that burden alone with me.

Song 184

184 The same drama

This we have seen already (several times)

Heard it so many times in the past

There is nothing new to see

There is no way to give advice

“By mistake I have done it and

By mistake I told like that”

Several times they have said this in the past

Will repeat the same in future too

There is no use in fault finding (in them)

If we began to count all the mistakes relationship won’t be sustained

Yet there is a limit for our patience

When the line is crossed there will a judgment

The advice which we gave to others

Also applies to us also

Realizing this we too should

Go along with others

Give and take is the only way

There is no other alternative means to this

What other have done; you too are doing

But somehow you forget about it

There is no end to this serial drama

There is no use in changing anything in it

However, we may change the scenes

There is no way to change the drama.

22-6-16, 5-45 pm. Mathigiri

Again, there came a tussle between me and my mother on a small issue. Most of the women feel that kitchen is their domain and they don’t like others to interfere in it. But now my mother completely stopped cooking and I am managing both the kitchen and all the household works.  Still, she feels that she has to keep a control what I should do or should not do in the kitchen. So, after a small fight, when I explained her that as I too become old, she should give some concession and should not expect perfection in my work. Finally, this matter reached my sister.  When my mother complained against me to her, she began to rebuke her and made her to understand her limitation and not interfere too much on everything. Finally, my mother realized and she said to my sister, ‘by mistake I said that’.  But she is not ready to say the same to me.  Well, knowing her to some extent and understanding the nature of (old) women, who are now forced to retire from active life, at the same time not want to give up their domination, I wrote this song to console myself.

NB. Several things which I say my mother won’t accept. But when my sister says the same, she will agree with her? When I was telling this to a woman who help her in our household errands, she said, ‘this is true with my mother too’.  According to my mother I don’t know how to cook properly and wasting too many things.  I also make too much food to distribute to the ‘whole town’ and make too much pickle to supply all. When I pointed that half of the pickles go to her daughter, elder son, and grand-children, her defence is that they didn’t ask me; and I prepare them to ‘brag’ to show how good I am making pickle. But when my niece called and told her that she enjoys my pickle and she never could buy them in the bazaar her response was, ‘I know that and if he does pickle business, he could have become millionaire now’.  No (male) cook is accepted or appreciated in his own house (by other women in the house)!

Song 185

185 Known but not understood

It is better not to know

It becomes a snare as we know

If we don’t know that is better

But knowing but understanding is a worst scenario

Others know better than us

Then what we know about us

What we know about is very little

What we don’t know is greater than ocean

Those who live with us know little about us

Those who live near know little more than them

Those who live in distance know more than all

But none understood anyone completely

In one way it is better not know

If we know we are more answerable

Not understanding is better than it

If we understood then we have to do accordingly

We have to follow those who knew and understood

We need to analyse about us often

Not repeating the mistake done by others

We should gain the name as a ‘wise’ person

But this is not possible one

We never understood that mistakes are wrong

Therefore, we repeat them again and again

And we live knowing yet not understanding

26-6-16, 11.00 am. Mathigiri

Several times I feel that knowing about my nature becomes a snare for me. If I don’t understand me then it is good.  But the way I think that I know who I am becomes more dangerous.  It is better for me not to know about my own nature.  Generally, there is a formula about this: we know about us; we and others know about us; we don’t know but others know about us. Both we and others do not know about us.  But this formula rarely works in real life.  The best way to know about us is to observe our life and others and to learn from the mistakes to correct it. At the same time the real challenge is that most of the time we don’t know that the mistakes are mistakes and repeat the same in life.  Even this analyse is not correct and may not help me further.
