216 Patience is in need
As the patience is lost within few seconds
He lost himself, what can I say about it?
What can we do for them, as they live?
Not thinking about the consequence
None survive by destroying others
We live not for ourselves
Whatever might be the difference of opinion?
Those who think that ‘I will destroy’, never survived
What kind of anger is this; within the blink of an eye
He got anger without having any mercy
What is the use of lamenting after that?
He will reap the fruit of his action
Destroying others and thereby oneself
None has achieved any benefit
There is none to console their children
As there is none to substitute the lost one
‘I will do what I think’, if one thinks like this
None can have peace of mind
If one controls his mind before act
There is no place for defeat in life
Giving food (‘anna-danam’) is noble indeed
But greater than that is to have patience
‘anna-dhanam’ will remove hunger
But to remove the poverty of mind, patience is more required.

In our neighbourhood one person killed his own elder brother over a small dispute about the money borrowed from him. Both were in a drunken stage and when the quarrel started first, they shouted at each other, then began to beat and finally overcoming his elder brother he killed him. All these happened within a few seconds and the family members never knew it as they were watching T.V. inside the house. When his son came out to answer a phone call, he noticed his father lying down in a pool of blood and his uncle sitting next to him with a knife. So extreme wrath added with intoxication brought such a tragedy to the entire joint family and nobody gained anything from this. That murderer went to jail, his children’s education was troubled and his mother lost two of her sons on the same day and both the wives suffered along with the children.

How much I might have written and read

Yet I cannot understand
About the final answer
There is no answer even after questioned
There is no clarity in asking
As I often changes the questions
Nothing is clear to my mind
Whomever I approach and ask
They in turn ask me question
Though I share what I know
They laugh at me
“You are already in confusion
Try to confuse others
However you try to resolve this
There is no use” they say
I didn’t come to any conclusion
About what to do further
I don’t know
Which way I should go
Not knowing the goal
The path is also not very clear
I go just as I am
Not knowing where I am going.

Whenever I read something which challenges me, then I began to ask question on those issues which challenges me and also the very issues which I uphold very dear to me. But in the end my questions remain only question not getting any satisfying answer from any source. I need to live with it till the end.

218 Sweet and bitter
Longing to have
Something which I like
I run every where
Seeking after it
Finally I got what I liked
But then it became bitter
Therefore I hate it
Next what I can do?
Though I liked it in the beginning
At the end I don’t like it
The sugarcane which was sweet at top
Fail to remain sweet at the end@
Eating too much sweet
Will bring bad taste to the mouth
The milk which remain nice at first
Also become savour at the end
No taste remain tasteful
Till the end
When it is tasteful we should enjoy
When it becomes bitter, we should reject it
Thinking that at the end we may not like it
If we reject it even in the beginning
Then till the end
Nothing will be useful to us
Love and hate is
Part of this life on earth
Enjoying the taste in between
Is the reality of life?
@ Actually, sugar can is sweet at the bottom and less at the top. But eating excess might end up reversing the order.

Often my mother will lament that nothing happens in her life as she likes. But the fact is, relatively she enjoys a better life than others of her age. But this longing for a better life than what we have always will deprive us to see the good that we enjoy at present.

219 Who is the loser?
Writing a poem according to the scene
Arranging the words as per the story
Setting the tone according to the composition
Somehow they write a poem
As a poem is demanded within short notice
In order to write it within short time
They consume alcohol
In order to get inspiration
What is there more for me to say about this?
Who is wrong, how can I say that
In order to get more golden egg
As the goose’s stomach is cut and opened, it died
I don’t know whether to laugh or weep
Yet it is not acceptable to me
But there is no point of lamenting about it
As there is no alternate for this world under pressure
But the question that begs now is
‘Who is the real loser’?
They might give thousands of reasons for this
And will continue their life as before
They will accumulate money in the name of art
And will become fame in the name of poet
Those who entered in the dream world called cinema
Will get perished after chasing the mirage

Recently one lyric writer for Tamil film Muthukumar died due to excessive drinking. As I don’t know anything about Film world, I never heard about him. But when I read that he is an upcoming poet who writes very sober songs not only for the films but also on various issues. In order to extract more songs for the films within short period, the producers and directors arrange a separate room in a beach bungalow and keep all kinds of liquors. Coming under the influence of the liquor, he will quickly write beautiful poems according to the situation of the film. Finally, this costed his very life and not only the film industry lost one of its best lyricists, but also the Tamil world a good poet and his wife and children lost their only support in life. As I read about this (Reporter, Tamil, 19-08-16, pp.6-8) I wrote this song. Those who arranged the drink and extracted lyrics for their film will continue the same, but ultimately who is the loser here? Not even Muthukumar, but his poor wife and children and parents.

Nothing wrong in listening to other’s views
We cannot reject which are good in them
But living not having any personal conviction
Is like a log on the wave, there is no use in it
How much others might present their good arguments
The final decision should be mine
We need humility to accept only those arguments
Which make sense to us (compatibility with our conviction????)
Once if I become a baby for all
Each one will expect one thing from me
Once I understood what is the purpose of my life
I go in my own way taking courage in it
We should not talk hurting others
We should never live as a stumbling block for others
If something went wrong in us
Then we should try to avoid them
They might talk so many rumours about me without having proper understanding
Even if they understand, they will say many things to cause stumbling
If I began to listen to everybody’s word
In the end I have to carry the donkey alone.
Mathigiri, 18-8-16 (19-8-16) 12.30 am. Personal conviction and deep commitment is need for us to uphold any principle in our life. Though we need to listen to others advice and try to accept correction with much humility, without having strong conviction, if we began to change our views to accommodate everybody’s views, then we will be tossed often in life constantly changing our goal post. Finally we will become that fool who carried the donkey along with his son listening others’ opinion, finally the donkey fell in the river when they crossed a river over a small bridge. As you all know the story, I am not sharing this here.
