Secular Songs 396 to 400

Secular song 396

The affection between two people, with true and deep love for each other will never disappear easily, however they get estranged with each other due to some quarrel.  But they will miss each other and even might silently weep for each other.  The way they get hurt will be healed by the tears that come out of deep love. As the tear heals, the same wound will become a scar of that love, which will again unite them with the same affection for each other.

Secular Song 396

Secular Song 396 The scar of love

When we thinking those old days

Tears will flow like water fall

We lived together with much love and affection

And we were swimming in the flood of love

Because of indignant sulkin we went overboard

By attacking  each other with words

Then both are hurt

And get separated thinking that we don’t want each other anymore

But we refused to close the spring of love

Which is still deep in our heart?

Longing for each other

We drowned in the flood of sorrow

There is none to send someone as emissary in between us

There is none to give comfort to us

As both of us suffered in this condition

Finally, we both understood the longing of our hearts

As the longing heart put pressure on us

We waited for each other to meet again

Then we cried for each other

Then realized the deep love for each other

Once we cried, we understood our love for each other

Then that cry become the boon for that wound

As the wound get healed becoming a scar

Again, united us in deep love.

Secular Song 397

Recently we had an interesting discussion about developing relationships and friendship.  At that time, I said that between Relatives and Friends, relatives are more important as we are born and die with them.  Though friendship is important, I know several people who lived and are still living without having many close friends with them. But none can live without relatives and relationships with them.  Several times we lose our friends due to many reasons. Though we might miss them, yet we won’t find the loss that much great like that when we miss our (close) relatives.  And particularly the value of relatives we realize when we miss them we regain them. As I was reflecting on this subject, I wrote this song.

Secular Song 397

Secular song 397 What a joy

What a joy is there

When we get it back which we have lost

Only when we get back after losing it

Then alone we can realize this.

We can understand the taste (of the food)

Only after if we eat after feeling hungry

Those who never feel hungry

How can they understand this?

How can we tell that?

What actually we have lost?

It is impossible to live

Without losing something in life

It is not new thing

To get last of materials

And wealth and materials

Never remain permanent in life.

Time will also flee in life

And will be gone blindly

Similarly, the age will go

Once we are born on earth.

The body will be worn out

And we will become old

And all the pleasures that we sought

Will disappear soon.

Losing all these

Are part of life

And we can never get a life

In which we never lost something.

But when it comes

To relationship

That is not easy to

Get lost.

Whether we like or hate

It won’t disappear easily

We also got it

Never sought by us.

The one which we

Received in birth

Will also continue

Even after death.

And losing such relationship

Is very hard indeed

But this kind of loss

Will often happen in life.

When we lost it

Then alone we can understand its pain

And when we get it back

We can understand its joy.

Secular song 398

This month is known as ‘Margazhi’ in Tamil and people in Tamilnadu will clean the house by removing unwanted things before whitewashing for ‘Pongal’.  As we are doing that, the helper said that he will throw away a few things which according to him are not wanted.  But as usual, I wanted to preserve some of them, as they may be needed in future.  So after arguing for some time finally, he gave up and I preserved them.

As I was reflecting about it tonight, I saw so many things around me, which accumulated gradually. I know most of them are not needed for day to day life.  But I (we) preserve most of them with ‘What if’ questions.  And the only solution for this problem is to give-up even the mind which tries to cling to things in life.  As inspiration came, I wrote this song reflecting this reality in life.

Secular song 398

Secular Song 398 Need to give up

One day we need to

Give up this world

Therefore, we should

Train to give up in life too.

Therefore, we should often

Remind ourselves that

We come with empty hands

And will go with empty hands.

Once the needs are increased

The burden also get increased

Finally, they all become

Unnecessary burden in life.

How much we get

Heart says that it is not enough

And it longs

More to get.

Though many things

That is collected become not useful

Still our heart will hesitate

To throw them away.

Though many of them

Become mere garbage

Our heart will get troubled

Once we threw them away.

Our heart opposes

Which our mind understands clearly

And fights back by saying

‘That is mere foolishness’.

Finally, when the burden

Becomes too much to bear

It will say that

All these are ‘maya’.

When finally

Some clarity has come

And the choice is very

Clear before us

When the time has come

To give up

We should get rid of the very heart

Which refuses to give up?

Secular Song 399

Accepting defeat is the worst scenario in life.  Of course, often we will fail, but we should never accept defeat.  We might have several lost battles but ultimately, we have to win the war. Those who created history lived never accepting defeat in their life.  There is no point in thinking about the past—whether failures or success, but need to press forward to achieve in life.  History can teach us, but it will not repeat exactly the same way as it happened.

Secular Song 399

Secular Song 399 Don’t accept defeat

Oh my heart! Never think about the past

And don’t lament about it

Don’t be disturbed think about the future

Face it, whichever might come in life.

There is no life without worries

There is no heart without get troubled

Defeat is not permanent one

And success never comes automatically!

If you stand still bewildered you will be defeated

If you with stand courageously you will win

If you run and hide you will get perished

And you will disappear without any use.

Very few has created history

And they alone accomplished

Look unto them

And try to live like them.

Once you stand firm, then there is no suffering

And defeat has no place in your life

Try to swim against the current

And remember this is real life.

If you think only about the past

The hunger won’t go automatically

Therefore, fight again in a new way

And try to create new things in life.

Secular Song 400

This is my theory: If we try to narrow down most of the human problem, then it could be “interpersonal relationship”.  And the only simple solution for this would be “just adjust”.  This is not an unknown secret and everybody knows this.  But the problem remains unresolved as we both beat the drum at the same time expecting the other to dance according to our tala (beats).  We often forget that others have the same right and expectation from us, what we have from them.  When we take the drum to beat expecting the other to dance, we should remind ourselves that we should also allow them to take their drum to beat for us to dance.  The best way to live amicably is to beat and dance alternatively—not simultaneously, both beating expecting the other to dance.

Secular Song 400

Secular Song 400 Other’s expectation

Others have

Expectations from us

They have

Many views about us

Therefore, we too

Have responsibility

And because of it

The burden has increased

.

As we too

Have our expectation (from them)

We both are

Sailing on the same boat

And the solution for this

Is only in our hands

And it is in

Understanding each other properly

Forgetting this

If we began to find fault

Then both our condition

Becomes very bad one

If we both expect

To dance according

To the tune of each other

Only noise alone increases

When one beats

The drum

The other should

Dance according to it

Like this if

Both sing and dance (in turn)

Somehow peace

Will prevail there

This is not

An unknown secret

And both of us

Never live not understanding this

As long as when the question comes:

Who should sing first?

And who should dance for that

This strife will go on forever.
