BT Song 521
Poem is only a means to give expression to our thoughts in short form. But beyond it stands a long commentary. That is why even short aphorisms received lengthy commentaries. Poems give one the freedom to imagine anything and at the same time puts restrictions on expressing it in words. Some languages are rich in giving expression to the thought in precise form. Mastering it is an art itself. But at the end a poet remains even unknown to her while she tries to give expression to her thought. How much more she will remain alien to others. About this Rumi well said that, ‘Poetry holds meaning loosely
like a rock in a sling. We let fly.
The rest is out of anyone’s control.– ONE STRONG BRUSHSTROKE DOWN, Coleman Barks, The Essential RUMI, Introduction to the New Expanded Edition, New York, HarperCollins, 2004, p. 336
And few more points by scholars would emphasis this more:
…There is a poetry of experiences which is genuinely and properly subjective. It prompts in one a silence of awe in another ecstatic utterance. It must not be standardized in language or thought as theology…. (Letter 282 13 June 1971)— Graham Kings, Christianity connected: Hindus, Muslims and the World in the Letters of Max Warren and Roger Hooker, New Delhi, (2002), Indian Edition, ISPCK, 2017, p. 268
… By a “poet,” Rorty means someone who is “the maker of new words, the shaper of new languages” (Rorty 1989: 20). In this he follows the lead of Harold Bloom, who reminds us that the root meaning of poesis is “the act of creating.” Poets are the ones who come along from time to time and by redescribing our world, re-create it for us. Like Nietzsche’s free spirits, they give us a new set of metaphors through which to view our world and our experience….— Brian A. Hatcher, Eclecticism and Modern Hindu Discourse, New York, Oxford University Press, 1999. p. 166
…Poetry, at its most profound, need not observe consistency— Howard Wettstein, a professor of philosophy at the University of California, Riverside, and the author of “The Significance of Religious Experience.”—in interview conducted by Gary Gutting for The Stone, p. 13
…Poets do have a licence to personify and make into substantives anything they please; but surely one cannot begin to take them literally….— REFLECTIONS ON THE CONCEPT OF ACTION IN THE GITA. S. Paul Kashap. Pp. 116-128, in, Bimal Krishna Matilal, ed, Moral Dilemmas in the Mahabharata, Indian Institute of Advanced Study Rashtrapati Niwas, Shima, in association with Motilal Banarsidass Publishers, Delhi, (1989) 2nd Reprint, 2014, p.119
Secular Song 521

BT Song 521 It is clear, still it is not clear
Though many
Thoughts are coming within me
And even though I recorded them
In writing
They become
Good for nothing
And how others can
Understand my situation
I never write
To share with others
At the same time
I can remain not writing
Till this day
I didn’t get the answer
To the question
Why should I write?
I stood before
The non-existing audience
And read my
Unwritten poems
Before they ask
The meaning for them
I gave many explanations
Which no one can understand?
Before all
Departed
I asked their
Opinion about it
It was clear
Still it was not clear, they responded
And they also said that
It is good that no one can understand it
They also advised me by saying
‘Don’t write like this anymore’
And they took leave
With a mocking smile on their lips
But I never
Stopped writing
Their advised never
Went in my ears
I never stopped
Scribbling which
Neither remains clear to me
Nor others can understand

Secular Song 522
For me the real silence is the one which our mind should not even experience. Once we experience the silence then it ceases to remain as silence. For me there exists no tasteless taste, formless form, colour less colour and attribute less god, emotional less emotion. Everything has a taste, every form has a form, everything has a colour, even attributlessness is another attribute to god and non-emotional is another kind of emotion. Similarly there is no silence as long as we have a mind (which does not even exist there) which uses our brain to make so much noise even while we try to remain silent.
Secular Song 522

Secular Song 522 Useless silence
What is the use of talking too much?
When there is no need for it
What is the use of remaining silent?
When one cannot find any use in it
Whether we open our mouth and talk
Or we remain a ‘mouni’ (silent person)
Without giving rest to the mind
There is no use in both these activities
Giving a form to the activity of the mind
And opening our mouth to share it
What is the use of such talk?
What is the profit if we keep not sharing?
Either by talking or writing
When we share our thoughts with others
We only try to share it to others
Only by giving another form to the mind
Giving rest to the mind which thinks
And if we manage not allowing it to think
Without any need to talk or writing
We can live always in silence
But even this silence also
Giving some work to the mind silently
Finally, the mind will understand that
Even this silence is only a Maya
As long as we have a mind
As long as we have a brain to think
There is no use in this silence
Oh my heart/mind, better you understand this

Secular Song 523
It is better to live life as it comes than try to understand it completely. When several things become clear, then more confusion follows. When we think that we found that one answer for a question, then there are so many questions about the answer. When we think that we found a particular solution to a problem it complicates the problem more than before. This doesn’t mean that we should not attempt to understand life. But several times it is better to live the life as it comes than analysing every part of it.
Secular Song 523

Secular Song 523 Better for us
When thing has becomes clear
Which remain unclear so for
It looks good that
It is better to remain unclear
One way it is good
That let certain thing remain unclear
Once it becomes clear
It increases the confusion more
Did we come to the world
Only after clear understanding
Did we live our life?
Only with clear understanding
Once the life which we live
Becomes more clear
Then we began to ask the question
Why this kind of life?
Beginning from that question
Asking more and more questions
We began to
Search answer for them
As nobody’s answer
Remains clear
We began to give
Our own answer to us
Arguing that
Our own answer is correct
We impressed others also
To accept it
If our answer remains unclear (to them)
Then giving various explanations
We tried our best
For others to understand it
Then others clearly
Understood us
And they kept away from us
Thinking that we are immature
But not realizing that
We began
To brag that
We are indeed very wise person
Did maturity come
Once the answer came
Did our life became
Very beautiful because of that
As this question
Came before us
Then we realized
Our true condition
Therefore, it is
Good that we don’t understand (many things)
It is good for us to
Live accordingly

Secular Song 524
After my regular reading, when I had enough time to think, I sat in a relaxed mood and thought about what I should think now? Then various categories came in my mind: about me, others, life, incident, current affairs, messages etc. etc. As I began to think one by one, I got bored with everything. Then I thought better let me think again about god, then that too become a routine thought. So I tried to give up all thoughts and try to control my mind. But as usual that also evaded me and laughed at me. Then giving up, when I thought better let me go to bed and try to catch my sleep as that alone is the best option than wasting time by thinking various thoughts, then as inspiration came I wrote this song. There are millions of people who neither have the time or the luxury to sit and think about various things. As they struggle on various ends, they spend the life accepting the routine life and find immense satisfaction in it. Only people like me who do not have any other work but only to think alone have to struggle with both the mind and thought.
Secular Song 524

Secular Song 524 What to think?
There are many things to think
And there are many ways to spend the time
But to the question: which one useful
We don’t have proper answer
When we began to think about us
As we began to think about our life, the head is rolling
To escape from it when we began to think about others
The world is rolling thinking about our condition
Let us think about god forgetting humans
Thinking like this when we turn our mind towards him
The questions: ‘Where, how and which form’ he is
Are coming before us
Let us not think human or god, thinking like this
When we think that let us think some other things
When we see all that is happening around us
We began to think: why even should think
Stopping all these kinds of thinking and
When we want to see the end of silence
Our own thought turning against us
Laugh at us silently
Therefore, not having any time to think
Without any need for that
Thinking that: let us sleep, get up and live the life
Is the best way to live life.
Mathigiri, 6-11-2019, 11.30 p.m.
Secular Song 525
Old habits never die and bad habits rarely go. This is aptly applicable to my mind which refuses to remain silent even for a few seconds. But there is no means to escape from it, as we were born with it. Unless we tam it with proper training and discipline till the end of our life we have to live with it. As some urge came again to write a poem, I tried my best to control my mind. As I refuse to listen, I wrote this song requesting to consider my pathetic condition also.
Secular Song 525

Secular Song 525 Please understand
When I say it is enough
Of my heart, better try to understand
Try to remain
Silently hear after
There is nothing new
To share
Even if you share
There is none to listen
Thinking something
In order to kill your time
Then writing it
And reading it again
You didn’t find
Any change
Even if you try to change
You don’t have the means to bring it
Though you know
This very well
Still, you didn’t understand
The trouble that I have (with you)
I need deliverance
From you
But I don’t know
When I am going to get it
Unless you take
Pity on me
There is no chance
For me to get it on my own
You never came
As an unwanted guest
So that I can ask you
To get lost
Once you become
Like the disease which came with the body
There is no means
For me to escape
But there is
No other companion for me
To share this burden
Other than you
Therefore, I request you
Try to remain silent
And began to take
The discipline for that
