Secular Song 671
As I was working on an article, I went to heat my dinner in a hurry, having already spent several hours writing. But when I reached the dining hall, I said to myself, “Don’t rush or push. No one is desperate to read your poems or writings. You always say you’re writing only for your own need. Then why the hurry and haste?”
Old age is a time to live life leisurely, enjoying each moment for its own sake. So do everything calmly and quietly. There’s no need to rush or push like others must do now to survive in a world driven by cut-throat competition and the pressures of social media.
Secular Song 671 Don’t Be in a Hurry
Without any haste,
To live with patience—
God has gifted me
This old age. – 1
No need to rush
In a flurry of motion,
Let’s avoid both
Anger and hurry. – 2
Thinking each second
Belongs to us,
We push aside
This rushing world. – 3
The patience we show
In our walking pace,
Let us also show
In the heart as we live. – 4
The restless times
Have now passed;
The panicking heart
Has faded away. – 5
No matter how many
Criticisms come,
A sense of indifference
Has taken root in us. – 6
Let the runners
Keep running fast;
We’ll simply think—
What’s it to us? – 7
Once this rushing
Time has passed,
Even they will
Come to understand. – 8
But we may not
Be there to see it;
We won’t last
That long. – 9
So, till the time
We are still here,
Let’s finish this journey
In peace and calm. – 10

Secular Song 672
Two years have passed since my mother left this world. The reality that she is no longer here for me to call “Amma” weighs heavily on my heart and often brings tears to my eyes. Though it sometimes feels like a dream, her memory in my heart and mind—and her presence in my life—are anything but a dream. Holding on to these memories, I find the strength to carry on.
Appearing like a dream
You blended into the air
Becoming a memory in my heart
You remain unshaken.
You are absent, yet present
You exist, yet you hide
What is false, what is true?
You leave me in agony.
Living was real
Disappearing is real
But both
Aren’t entirely true.
Living after disappearance
Or disappearing after life
Is it true or not?
I can’t understand.
This relationship
Has no equal
It has no beginning
And no end.
An eternal bond
That transcends time
Will it fade
Only if the body is forgotten?
Days passed
Months have flown
Two years have gone by
Even so,
It feels like yesterday
My heart swells
And tears overflow.
To call you “Mother”
You are not near
Yet, your love
Hasn’t disappeared.
Though you became a memory
And blended into the air
You live in my heart
It is no dream.

Some people manage to mint money by posting videos that attract viewers who invest their time to watch, comment, and share. Even watching a video for just 30 seconds is an investment of your time, ultimately helping someone else reap the profit.
The sheer volume of videos and messages flooding social media platforms is overwhelming. Amidst this sea of content, there are a few valuable programs worth watching—provided you genuinely want to learn something authentic and useful, not just for yourself but for others as well.
However, those who mindlessly scroll through their phones to kill time often become the product themselves, enabling others to profit from their engagement. Instead of aimlessly scrolling, seek out programs that add value and are truly worth your attention.
If you continue scrolling without purpose, merely to pass time, you risk becoming the very product that fuels someone else’s gain.
This poem reflects that theme.
Secular Song 673 – We May Be Auctioned
So many contests,
So many auctions,
How much arrived
At the marketplace to tell?
What to buy
And what to leave,
A time of confusion
Not knowing what to do.
If contests are ignored,
That alone suffices.
If auctions are unheard,
We can escape safely.
If you watch the show
And see the contests,
In the end, we ourselves
May be auctioned off.
So, if caught
In the marketplace,
The sound of auctions
You must hear.
Escape the market,
Step away from the crowd,
Stand afar
And observe everything.
Take only what
You truly need,
Guarding both
Your time and money.
Only by living
Will we profit.
Instead of wasting
Time unnecessarily.
If you go
To watch the fun,
We ourselves
May become the show.
Others may
Auction us off,
And they might
Profit from it too.

Secular Song 674
This I modified when Palani sent few lines of this thought. But I developed it as a full poem expanding the idea and illustration. So the original thought belongs to Palani but I added more to it.
Secular Song 674 Beauty
Criticism adds beauty to friendship,
Harmony adds beauty to a nation.
Correction brings beauty to relationships,
Detachment brings beauty to renunciation.
Kindness beautifies the heart,
Peace beautifies the mind,
Sweetness beautifies speech,
Fulfillment beautifies life.
Devotion beautifies faith,
Clarity beautifies the face,
Self-control beautifies success,
Logic beautifies reasoning.
Strength adds beauty to manliness,
Grace adds beauty to femininity,
Affection adds beauty to motherhood,
Duty adds beauty to fatherhood.
Anger adds beauty to a child,
Virtue adds beauty to a family,
Hospitality adds beauty to a home—
These are the true riches of a nation.
The sky’s beauty lies in its vastness,
The earth’s beauty in its crops,
The sea’s beauty in its depth,
The wind’s beauty in its power.
To write about every movement
Of nature—
When words fall short,
That is the beauty of poetry.

Secular Song 675
As I went to the kitchen to heat my dinner, I recalled a proverb that almost all elderly people tend to say. Unless there are guests, my life follows nearly the same routine every day—reading, writing, doing cross-stitch work, walking with light exercise, and eating almost the same food. Then, as the inspiration continued, I composed this song in my mind while having dinner, and later recorded it on my computer.
Secular Song 675 old age
Let’s eat whatever is cooked,
And go when fate calls us—
That’s the truth
We accept in old age. ①
How much have we eaten
So far in life?
And how much
Is still left? ②
Before finishing
That entire count,
If we hurry—
Will it even happen as we plan? ③
Somehow,
Today is already gone.
Tomorrow’s time
Belongs to Him. ④
Still, poor thing,
What can He do?
Even He is trapped
And cries out like us! ⑤
One day even we
Will come to an end.
But He has to
Remain here still. ⑥
Once you put your head
Into the mortar,
What’s the use of fearing
The pestle? ⑦
Even if you try
All possible combinations,
Rice and porridge
Can’t be separated. ⑧
If His state
Is also like this,
Why should we worry
Or blame ourselves? ⑨
So we write
Songs like this,
Scold Him a bit
To cope with it! ⑩
The life He gave
Is still with us—
So let’s keep living it
One day at a time. ⑪

Secular Song 671 –

Secular Song
Secular Song 672
26-12-2024, Gurukulam,
Secular Song 672

Secular Song 673 –

Secular Song 673

Secular Song 675
