BT Song 1191
Pain and Grace
BT Song 1191 Your Gift [Simple English Version]
So many struggles
Exist in the world
But nothing compares
To the peace you give
Though formed in the womb
With much struggle
And born
To face more struggles
Even though life
Ends with struggle
I realized
Life with you is different
Every day
Brings new struggles
Disappointments come
One after another
When I think,
‘What kind of life is this?’
I feel the peace
You give amid it all
In human relationships
Which remain a mystery
There are many
Unknown frictions
In this life with relatives
We cannot fully accept
Or completely reject
Any of them
Not standing apart
But coming close to me
I felt the love
You give
Not seeing life
As just an illusion
Not thinking life
Is only for pleasure
Even this life
I live through my body
I understand
Is a gift from God
Though sweetness and
Bitterness mix together
No matter how many struggles
Come my way
Not going to
One extreme or the other
I found balance
In you

BT Song 1191 Your Gift [Classical English Version]
How many struggles
May be in the world
Is there any comparison
To the peace thou dost bestow
Though formed in the womb
With much travail
And brought forth
Into a world of strife
Though life will finally
Depart with much struggle
I have come to see
The life I live with thee
In daily life
There are myriad struggles
Many disappointments arrive
One after another
When I ponder,
‘What kind of life is this?’
I experience the peace
Thou bestowest amidst all
In human relationships
That remain enigmatic
There are many
Hidden frictions
In this life lived
With kin and kindred
Neither fully accepted
Nor wholly rejected
Not standing afar
But drawing nigh unto me
I felt the love
Thou dost impart
Not dismissing life
As mere illusion
Nor deeming it
Solely for pleasure
Even this life
Lived through this frail body
Is also a gift from God
This truth I grasp
Though sweetness and
Bitterness are intertwined
However many struggles
May come my way
Not leaning towards
One extreme alone
I found a balance
In thee

BT Song 1192
See: Grace Amidst trails
BT Song 1192 Stable Faith (or Trust) [Simple English Version]
1.
Everything will go well for those who believe,
All the goodness in life will come naturally.
Things will go as I wish,
Even if they don’t, there will be hope.
2.
If we don’t trust and only question,
How will we find the answers we seek?
Even all the answers we get
Will only bring an unstable mind.
3.
When we trust God, a kind of peace
Will come naturally and dwell in our hearts.
This peace encourages us,
And comfort will come naturally.
4.
As instability disappears from our minds,
Even our intellect will find balance.
Then both intellect and heart together
Will help us understand the situation.
5.
As the intellect begins to think calmly,
The heart also makes space for it.
It will find ways
To overcome the troubles and trials that come.
6.
Along with this, as the soul prays to God,
His grace will join us.
Then everything that happens after that
Will follow God’s will.
7.
For those who trust God,
Everything will go like this.
Once we experience this,
It will remain firmly in our hearts.

BT Song 1192 Stable Faith (or Trust) [Classical English Version]
1.
All things shall be well for those who believe,
And all goodness in life shall come of its own accord.
As I wish, so shall things proceed,
And even if not, there shall be hope indeed.
2.
Trust not if thou dost only question,
How then shall answers be received?
Even all answers that we might get,
Shall leave the mind unstable and grieved.
3.
When in God we place our trust, a peace,
Shall come naturally to dwell within our heart.
Such peace shall encourage us,
And comfort shall follow as an art.
4.
As instability flees our mind,
Even reason finds its equilibrium.
Then with heart and mind combined,
Shall we understand the situation’s continuum.
5.
When reason begins to ponder leisurely,
The heart too grants it space.
Thus shall it find the means,
To conquer troubles and trials we face.
6.
And as the soul prays to God above,
His grace shall join our plight.
Then all that transpires henceforth,
Shall follow God’s will and light.
7.
For those who trust in God,
Thus shall all things proceed.
Once we witness this,
It shall steadfastly in our heart be freed.

BT Song 1193
Long ago at a meeting in Kodaikanal, attended only by our Hindu relatives and friends (except for the Kannan family), someone asked, “What is the purpose of life?” I responded, “The purpose of life is to live.” This unexpected answer surprised him, as he anticipated a philosophical response typical of sannyasis and gurus. I then explained to him and the rest of the participants, “Don’t ask philosophical questions about life—especially as a family person. All the philosophical answers you receive are mere theories that won’t help you live a NORMAL LIFE. Live your life as a normal family person. You will then find your own philosophical answers and might even develop your own philosophy of life. You have to live your life and cannot live for others, but you must live WITH others, which alone makes life meaningful. Remember, you are not living FOR others but WITH others. The moment you start living for others, you will not only mess up your own life but also become a burden to others.”
Whether others follow this or not, at least this is my philosophy of life. I never tried to live for others but have always tried to live my life on my own terms. Of course, when I had the opportunity to serve others, both physically and mentally, I did my best. When it comes to my responsibilities as a son, brother, or friend, I strive to do my best. At the same time, I feel that in the name of serving others, I don’t want to disturb them. Sometimes, the best service we can do for others is not to disturb them as much as possible. This is not Western individualism but a recognition of personal limitations. My preferred way of life is to remain a recluse, not disturbing others and not being disturbed by others. All my writings and postings are done to serve my needs and not to ENLIGHTEN OTHERS.
BT Song 1193 I Should Live for Me [Simple English Version]
1.
I should live my
Life for myself.
I should do
What you asked me to do.
2.
Hiding the truth
And pretending for others,
Why should I live?
For the world’s approval?
3.
Remaining hidden,
Unknown by anyone,
Thinking each day
Is your grace.
4.
Doing what I can
With both body and mind,
I should find satisfaction
By living with you.
5.
Doing nothing
To achieve fame,
Not thinking I was born
To make history.
6.
Not trying to
Teach others,
I should seek
Inner silence.
7.
Remembering that I am just
A bubble on water,
Realizing that
This life is unstable.
8.
Disappearing like the bubble
Along with the air,
I should live
And join you, completing my life.
9.
But not even
Writing this,
No compulsion
Coming for that.
10.
You should
Calm my mind,
And you should help me
To live for myself.
Mathigiri, 4-5-2020, 11.15 p.m.
BT Song 1193 I Should Live for Me [Classical English Version]
1.
I should live my life
For mine own self.
I should fulfill
What thou hast bid me do.
2.
Concealing truth
And feigning for others,
Why should I exist?
To win the world’s favor?
3.
Remaining hidden,
Known to none,
Thinking each day
As thy grace.
4.
Performing what I can
With both body and mind,
I should find satisfaction
Living with thee.
5.
Striving not
To achieve renown,
Nor deeming I was born
To craft a legacy.
6.
Endeavoring not
To teach others,
I should seek
Inner silence.
7.
Remembering that I am but
A bubble upon the water’s face,
Realizing that
This life is fleeting.
8.
Vanishing like the bubble
With the air,
I should live,
Joining thee as my life concludes.
9.
But not even
Penning this,
No compulsion
Arises for that.
10.
Thou shouldst
Quell my mind,
And aid me
To live for myself.

BT Song 1194
From the morning, I was thinking and praising the Lord unconsciously amidst my regular work. It was a hot day compared to the moderate climate we usually have in our area. I also became very tired due to lack of proper sleep. As usual, my back pain returned. But amidst all these small troubles, I thought more about the grace of the Lord, which sustains me despite so many outward limitations. After having our meal, I went to bed to take some rest. As the spirit of worship continued, I wrote this song to worship Him.
BT Song 1194 Born to Praise [Simple English Version]
1.
You called me
Only to praise you.
You gave me a heart
Only to worship you.
2.
Giving grace,
Seeking after me,
You made me live
Continually in you.
3.
Where is any comparison
For the peace
That comes
When we worship you?
4.
Where is the word
To describe the purity
That fills the heart
When we worship?
5.
When trouble comes
Along with pain,
They bring
Defeat in life.
6.
Like praise,
What other companion
And strength
Can overcome them?
7.
When the mind gets depressed
And tiredness comes,
It refuses
To return to normal.
8.
As you redeem again,
By stretching your hands,
What trouble remains
To praise you?
9.
When the tide of time
Flows like
Morning, evening,
And night,
10.
As praise
Becomes a boat,
The journey will continue
With much sweetness.
11.
As praising brings
So many blessings,
When I do it alone,
Joy fills my heart.
12.
Rejoicing in my praise,
You also come
And receive
My praises.
Mathigiri, 5-5-2020, 11.15 a.m.
BT Song 1194 Born to Praise [Classical English Version]
1.
Thou called me
Only to praise thee.
Thou gavest a heart
Only to worship thee.
2.
Bestowing grace,
Seeking after me,
Thou madest me to live
Continually in thee.
3.
Where is any comparison
For the peace
That cometh
When we worship thee?
4.
Where is the word
To speak of the purity
That fills the heart
When we worship?
5.
When troubles come
Along with pain,
They bring
Defeat in life.
6.
Like praise,
What other companion
And strength
Can overcome them?
7.
When the mind grows weary
And tiredness arrives,
It refuses
To return to normal.
8.
As thou dost redeem again,
By stretching forth thy hand,
What trouble remains
To praise thee?
9.
When the tide of time
Flows like
Morning, evening,
And night,
10.
As praise
Becomes a boat,
The journey continues
With much sweetness.
11.
As praising brings
So many blessings,
When I do it alone,
Joy fills my heart.

BT Song 1195 Let Us Seek Grace [Simple English Version]
1.
The mind will ask
Thousands of questions.
It will also seek
Answers for them.
2.
But the heart will seek
Only peace.
It will seek it
Each day at your feet.
3.
Seeking the reason,
The mind will run.
It will do lots of research
By reading a lot.
4.
Without any need
For it,
My heart will
Seek your grace.
5.
Not knowing
How long all those
That are recorded
Will be useful.
6.
Worn out
From reading a lot,
Finally, the mind will
Understand this truth.
7.
The heart that understands
The nature of grace
Will help the mind
To gain enlightenment.
8.
Helping the mind
To know its limits,
The heart will help it
To understand grace.
9.
Until you
Seek us first
And give your
Grace to us,
10.
All the efforts
That we make
Will be like water
Irrigating weeds.
11.
As I
Understand grace,
I also
12.
To attain it
Easily,
I beseech you
To seek His feet.
Mathigiri, 6-5-2020, 11.30 p.m.
Let Us Seek Grace [Classical English Version]
1.
The intellect shall ask
A thousand questions.
It shall also seek
Answers for them.
2.
But the heart shall seek
Only peace.
It shall seek it
Each day at thy feet.
3.
Seeking the reason,
The intellect shall run.
It shall perform much research
Through ample reading.
4.
Without any need
For such,
My heart shall
Seek thy grace.
5.
Not knowing
How long all those
Records kept
Shall prove useful.
6.
Weary from
Much reading,
At last the intellect shall
Comprehend this truth.
7.
The heart that understands
The nature of grace
Shall aid the intellect
In finding enlightenment.
8.
Helping the intellect
To know its bounds,
The heart shall aid it
In understanding grace.
9.
Until thou dost
Seek us first
And bestow
Thy grace upon us,
10.
All our efforts
Shall be like water
Irrigating
Naught but weeds.
11.
As I
Comprehend grace,
I too
Proclaim this truth.
12.
To attain it
With ease,
I entreat thee
To seek His feet.

BT Song 1191 உனது ஈவு
எத்தனைப் போராட்டம்
உலகில் இருந்தாலும்
என்னுள்ளே நீதரும்
நிம்மதிக்கு ஈடுண்டோ
(1)
கருவினில் போராடி
உருவான போதும்
உலகினில் போராட
வந்த போதும்
(2)
இறுதியில் போராடி
உயிர் போகும்போதும்
உன்னோடு வாழ்கின்ற
உறவினை அறிந்தேன்
(3)
அனுதின வாழ்வினில்
பலவிதப் போராட்டம்
அடுக்கடுக்காய் வரும்
பலவித ஏமாற்றம்
(4)
என்னடா வாழ்க்கை
என்றுமே எண்ணினும்
இதனிடையே தரும்
அமைதியை உணர்ந்தேன்
(5)
புரிந்தும் புரியாத
மனித உறவில்
தெரிந்தும் தெரியாத
பலவித நெருடல்
(6)
தள்ளவும் முடியாது
நெருங்கவும் இயலாது
உறவோடு போராடி
வாழ்கின்ற வாழ்வில்
(7)
தள்ளியே நிற்காது
நெருங்கியே வந்து
தந்திடும் அன்பை
உன்னிலே உணர்ந்தேன்
(8)
மாயையே வாழ்வு
என்று தள்ளாமல்
போகமே உண்மை
என்று எண்ணாமல்
(9)
தேகத்தின் மூலம்
வாழ்கின்ற வாழ்வும்
தெய்வத்தின் ஈவு
என்பதை உணர்ந்தேன்
(10)
இனிப்பும் கசப்பும்
கலந்து இருந்தாலும்
எத்தனைப் போராட்டம்
வாழ்க்கையில் வந்தாலும்
(11)
இருவித எல்லைக்கும்
சென்று நில்லாமல்
உன்னிலே சமநிலை
நானும் அடைந்தேன்

BT Song 1192

BT Song 1193 எனக்காக வாழணும்
எனக்கான வாழ்வை
நான்வாழ வேண்டும்
எனக்குநீ சொன்னதை
நான்செய்ய வேண்டும்
(1)
பிறர்க்காக நடித்து
உண்மையை மறைத்து
ஊர்மெச்ச வேண்டி
ஏன்வாழ வேண்டும்
(2)
ஒருவரும் அறியாது
மறைவாக இருந்து
ஒவ்வொரு நாளையும்
உன்னருளாக நினைந்து
(3)
உடலால் மனதால்
இயன்றதைச் செய்து
உனக்குள்ளே வாழும்
நிறைவை அடையணும்
(4)
சாதிக்க வேண்டி
ஏதும் செய்யாமல்
சரித்திரம் படைக்கப்
பிறந்ததாய் எண்ணாமல்
(5)
ஊருக்கு உபதேசம்
செய்ய முனையாமல்
உள்ளான மவுனத்தை
நாட வேண்டும்
(6)
நீர்மேல் குமிழி
என்பதை நினைந்து
நிலையற்ற வாழ்விது
என்பதை உணர்ந்து
(7)
காற்றோடு கரையும்
குமிழாக மறைந்து
கண்மூடிஉன்னோடு
இணைய வேண்டும்
(8)
ஆனாலும் இதைக்கூட
எழுதாமல் இருக்க
அதற்கான அவசியம்
வாராமல் இருக்க
(9)
சிந்தையை முடமாக்கி
நீயுமே வைத்து
எனக்காக நான்வாழ
உதவ வேண்டும்

BT Song 1194 துதிக்கப் பிறந்தேன்
துதிப்பதற்கென்றே
என்னையும் அழைத்தாய்
தொழுவதற்கென்றே
மனதையும் கொடுத்தாய்
(1)
தேடியே வந்து
கிருபையை அளித்து
தொடர்ந்து உன்னில்
வாழ வைத்தாய்
(2)
துதித்திடும் போது
மனதிலே தோன்றும்
தெய்வீக அமைதிக்குத்
ஈடிணை ஏது
(3)
துதிப்பதால் மனதில்
வந்திடும் தூய்மை
அதனைச் சொல்ல
வார்த்தையும்ஏது
(4)
துன்பமும் துயரமும்
சூழவே வந்து
தோல்வி தன்னை
அளித்திடும் போது
(5)
துதியைப் போல
அவற்றை வெல்லத்
துணையும் பெலனும்
வேறிங்கு ஏது
(6)
சோர்வு வரும்போது
துவண்ட மனது
மீண்டு வந்திட
மறுத்திடும் போது
(7)
கரத்தை நீட்டி
நீயும் மீட்க
உன்னைத் துதிக்கத்
தடைகளும் ஏது
(8)
காலை மாலை
இரவு என்று
கால வெள்ளம்
ஓடும் போது
(9)
துதியும் அங்கு
படகாய் மாற
பயணம் தொடரும்
இனிமையாக
(10)
இத்தனை நன்மைகள்
துதியும் அளிக்க
அதையே நானும்
செய்யும் போது
(11)
துதியில் மகிழ்ந்து
நீயும் வந்து
துதிக்கும் துதியை
ஏற்றிட வேண்டும்

BT Song 1195 அருளை நாடுவோம்
ஆயிரம் கேள்விகள்
அறிவு கேட்கும்
அதற்கான விடையை
அதுவும் தேடும்
(1)
ஆயினும் மனமோ
அமைதியைத் தேடும்
அதைஉன் பாதத்தில்
அனுதினம் நாடும்
(2)
காரணம் தேடி
அறிவும்ஓடி
ஆழ்ந்து படித்து
ஆராய்த்து பார்க்கும்
(3)
அதற்கானத் தேவை
ஏதுமே இன்றி
மனது உனது
கிருபையை நாடும்
(4)
ஏட்டிலே எழுதி
வைக்கும் எதுவும்
எதுவரை உதவும்
என்பதை அறியாது
(5)
நாளும் படித்து
நூலென இளைத்து
இறுதியில் அறிவு
உண்மை அறியும்
(6)
கிருபை தன்னை
அறிந்த மனது
அறிவின் அறிவை
தெளிய வைக்கும்
(7)
அதனின் எல்லையை
புரிய வைத்த
அறிவும் அருளை
அறிய வைக்கும்
(8)
நீயேத் தேடி
எம்மையும் நாடி
அருளை முதலில்
அளிக்க வரையில்
(9)
நாங்கள் செய்யும்
முயற்சி அனைத்தும்
விழலுக்கு இரைத்த
நீராய் மாறும்
(10)
அந்த அருளை
பெற்ற பின்னே
உணர்ந்த தாலே
இதையும் சொன்னேன்
(11)
அதனை எளிதில்
அடைய வேண்டி
அவனின் தாளை
நாடச் சொன்னேன்
